This is a picture of the Hale-Bopp comet which was prominent in the night sky in the spring of 1997. As you can see from the sign the photo was taken along Ranch Road 1323. It is a few miles east of Sandy, about 10 miles northwest of Johnson City. The picture was taken about 10:30 p.m. on April 22 with a 30-45 second exposure. As it happened, there was a full moon rising behind me and this illuminated the landscape.
